Listen I have been saying it and I’m going to keep saying, maybe even speak it into existence. It makes too much sense for Will Riley to play college basketball next season (preferably for the Fighting Illini). He’s projected mid/late 1st to early 2nd round depending on which mock you look at. Risky because if he did slip out of the 1st round, he wouldn’t even get a guaranteed contract.
I’ll take it a step further – he probably makes more money at Illinois next season than he would in the NBA if he was drafted late 1st/early 2nd. If he comes back he has as many shots as he wants for a high profile team that would be national contenders with him in the line-up. Why not come back to Illinois, get stronger, improve the draft stock, win a natty, make 2million in the process. The more I think about it, the more this doesn’t even seem like a difficult decision.
what I’m trying to say here is that it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he comes back. Further – it would surprise me more if he did actually declare for the NBA Draft at this point. Throw the bag at him. Bring him back boys let’s GO.
